What is Self-Consolidating Concrete

Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) is extremely fluid concrete that consolidates without external vibration and is extremely resistant to segregation. The American Concrete Institute defines it as, "highly flowable, nonsegregating concrete that can spread into place, fill the formwork, and encapsulate the reinforcement without any mechanical consolidation."* It flows like water, but sets like concrete. Those who have worked with concrete before understand the implications. Flowing, nonsegregating, self leveling concrete that does not require mechanical vibration equals lots of savings ($$$).
